How to choose the best wedding photographer in Newcastle Upon Tyne

Tina • Feb 08, 2021

Are you starting your search for your Wedding photographer – then this might help

Are you having a full day Wedding with all the posh details surrounded by all your family and friends in a big party?

Is your Wedding intimate, romantic, the coming together of soulmates?

It’s important to distinguish which one you have as fulfilling each is very different.

If you are getting married, having a beautiful intimate day with all the traditions, holding back on some of the unseen frills, concentrating on sharing your day with your nearest and dearest in a medium to small setting then you are in the right place. I’m here. This is the blog for you.

As your wedding photographer I can spend more time with you than anyone in those few hours of the ceremony, and the memory making photos of you and your family looking their best once you are married. It’s critical we get along, and I understand the important details that matter to you on your day so you can relive them over and over again. Those hours are a tense time, a loving time, and emotional time – I’m here. I can ease nerves, wipe tears, straighten button holes, reassure, and fluff dresses to calm all sorts of nerves. I want you to know you can lean on me.

You had the challenge of taking pictures of G and I who both hate our picture being taken! You were so patient and funny, the guests loved you. I think our only request was to get pictures of all the guests, in the photo frame at the evening do, you did that and we have amazing wedding pictures - M

Choose your photographer wisely, trust your gut. There are lots of us out there so make sure you shop around – who has your best intentions at heart?

Tina you made me feel at complete ease. I trusted that you would do what was right and you did just that! You made it fun and the flow was great. Your personality shone in the day and you interacted well with everyone and were positive throughout, and appeared to be stress free!! - C

I want you to know the answers to these questions:

What is their style?

It’s really important you like the type of photos they take, some are light and airy. Some rustic and vintage, does their style match you as a couple? Think about how many photos you are going to want taken indoors and out. It is important that if you are having an indoor event that your photographer is technically capable of working with flash, the same with outdoors, if your heart and soul is set on a particular image for your wall in an outdoor setting – make sure your photographer displays plenty of capability over all weather situations.

What package options do they have?

Some are all in, some are in parts that you can bolt on, you need to have an idea what you’d like covered. Make sure it is clear what is included in the price, is their travel time included? What is the refund policy? Covid has taught us that it is important that this information is clear, and what moving dates means. I have witnessed distressed parties on both sides, so make sure you know what is going to govern if things go wrong.

Do you understand the costs?

Is it clear what you actually get in time and images in the package options? Do you know what the added extras options are? My fear is always hidden costs, my own philosophy is to be up front, build trust right from the start.

So when thinking about these things – take a moment to dream ahead in 30 years when you are showing your grandkids, what images do you want to show them?

Now think about this, you’ll have seen your own parents and grandparents photos – it’s a great place for inspiration – what matters to look back on? If you have gone to great detail with your wedding stationary – make sure it is captured, if you have personalised items in your dress or suit attire, make sure it is captured, certain people, or groups, I think it always deserves a lot of thought – I’ve seen regret this is why – ‘we need a photo of all my girlfriends’ and mean while we miss the matriarchs of the family who are no longer with us. Give it some thought, will your photographer create the lasting legacy in your family history that is your wedding day

You made me feel so special and especially when I walked in and you were photographing my son’s face!! The pictures you took on the day have given both D and I the most amazing memories, especially after losing D’s son A. We were so blessed to have him at our wedding and your pictures will always be so special knowing Ad was alive to see us married. You were amazing – V

I remember we had such a laugh, my dad became your best friend and copied all your pictures - M

So there it is, your guide – the truth is – it’s the best photographer for you, and I’m here, ready to chat and understand your day, create and capture your history, beautifully, thoughtfully, respectfully.

It’s such a milestone when you look back at their newborn photos and how much they have developed in such a short time. Now they are smiling, moving, eating, and their personalities emerging with vigour. It’s a time to not just celebrate their very first birthday, but all so congratulate yourself on making it through teething, sleep regression, weaning, and those early tempers!
