NEWBORN

If you are expecting – congratulations!! Having a baby is such an exciting time, and can be very overwhelming as you bring a new member of your family home. Even if it’s your first, second or more, birth can be a tricky business, and you can be a bit comfy (!!) in the days/weeks following while you and your new addition are getting to grips with establishing feeding, the random bodily functions, and the inevitable lack of sleep! This is exactly why I provide a mobile service to your home, keeping your baby in an environment where all the smells are familiar, and I am the only new thing so you have everything to hand for whatever your baby may need, no need to try and remember to pack everything with a sleep deprived brain!

Newborn shoots are best done in the first 10 - 14 days when they are still quite sleepy and curled up, and haven't developed milk spots or cradle cap if they are going to. They can be booked any time after your 20 week scan. As for booking your date, I pop you in on your due date and then we just work with when your little one decides to arrive. Once you have booked we can get on with planning your little ones shoot, I like your shoot to be unique to you so always do something a little different.

Baby's safety is always the most important element of the shoot. The chin on hands or chin on a single-hand, in fact any newborn image with the head upright are composite shots where a number of images are taken to create one. No stress is put on the baby's neck, arms, back, or wrists as all the weight is taken by the spotting adult, usually the parent. No image set up is rushed. And whilst I have undertaken specialist training within the photography world for newborn safety, I have also undertaken infant first aid training as well – you can never be too prepared.
